Pre-registration allows international schools to reserve a requested number of spaces and to receive priority country and committee assignments.
VMUN will hold the requested number of spaces for your delegation until October 8th, 2017; after this point, if the required deposit is not paid, the spots will no longer be guaranteed. Should your delegation make the deposit payment, the spaces will be held until November 25th, after which any remaining spots that have not been claimed will no longer be guaranteed. This deposit will count towards delegate payment, and thus serves as a pre-payment rather than an additional fee.
Pre-registration offers international schools the security of knowing that they have spaces saved without having to make a payment immediately. VMUN recommends international schools pre-register to maximize time for sponsor teachers and faculty advisors to plan their trip to Vancouver, create an itinerary, and liaise with their school administration — all with the added bonus of receiving priority country and committee assignments!
If your school is located outside of British Columbia, we require a security deposit of $200 CAD. The deposit must be paid in order for your school to be added to the Delegate Registration Form. You will be contacted with a payment link after your completion of the pre-registration form, and the deposit must be paid by October 8th.
Note that pre-registering your school is not mandatory by any means; the programme is entirely optional and is designed to give schools further afield additional time to plan their respective trips. The regular registration cycle will open for all schools (international, Canadian, and local) in the fall.
