Food and Agriculture Organization
Founded in 1945, the Food and Agriculture Organization is the oldest Specialized Agency of the United Nations. It is tasked with ensuring agricultural stability, and achieves this by addressing food security and issues concerning forestry and fishery. Delegates in this mid-sized committee will synthesize humanitarianism with science, striving to fulfill the motto ‘Fiat Panis’: Let there be bread.
This committee is designed for both beginners and experienced delegates alike. Position papers, although strongly recommended, are not required. However, delegates who wish to be considered for an award must submit their position papers by Sunday, January 8, 2017, at 11:59 pm. Jodi Fei | Director
In grade 10, Jodi joined Model UN with an interest in international relations and global current events. She is now in grade 12 at Crofton House School, and has enjoyed MUN in the past two years as a delegate. From the many friendships and bonds she has made in the committee room, she hopes to make even more memories in her final year of high school. When not dressed in western business attire, Jodi is most likely somewhere near a map, reaching out to the entire lower mainland, making lattes and recreationally playing badminton. She is thrilled to staff FAO for the first time at VMUN 2017, and she wishes to create lasting memories with her dais and the committee.
Robert Armstrong | Chair
Robert is currently in the 12th grade at St. George’s school in Vancouver. Although he has been involved in debate since he was in the ninth grade, Robert started MUN just two years ago and found it quite enjoyable. He is excited to be working with the FAO this year for VMUN and hopes that the committee is a success. Robert enjoys doing pretty much the same stuff that everyone else does and of course, public speaking, current events, and Model United Nations. He is glad to have this opportunity and is excited for another successful VMUN.
Timothy Ro | Assistant Director
Timothy is a senior currently attending Pacific Academy and is excited to be serving as the Assistant Director for the Food and Agricultural Organization at Vancouver Model United Nations 2017. In his spare time, Tim can be found at the gym going ham, flying around buzzing towers downtown, or be seen at the theaters catching the latest cinematic films. Tim cannot wait for the excellent debate to commence at VMUN 2017, and is excited to work with everyone!
