Welcome to the Vancouver Model United Nations 2012
Dear Delegates and Faculty Advisers,
It is my distinct privilege to invite you to attend the Vancouver Model United Nations (VMUN) 2012 conference. This year, VMUN will take place at the Hyatt Regency Hotel from Friday, January 20 to Sunday, January 22, 2012.
VMUN, long acknowledged as one of the most prestigious Model United Nations conferences in Canada, is proud to offer the same top-quality debate and capable staff from previous years. For our eleventh annual session, we are committed to attracting a wider diversity of delegates, bringing you inspiring speakers knowledgeable about current issues, and improving the quality of delegate training resources available in the months leading up to the conference. All in all, the Secretariat promises to deliver a bigger and better conference than ever before!
Teacher chaperones, we encourage you to inform your students of this educational opportunity and assist them as they prepare for the conference. This year, we are excited to be able to offer teacher chaperones with eight or more delegates a complimentary room for the duration of the conference and promotional materials if desired. Delegates, please research your committee topics thoroughly before submitting position papers to the appropriate dais staff. I encourage you to utilize our website (http://vmun.com) and join our Facebook group (http://fb.vmun.com) to assist you in your preparations. Please take the time to examine the relevant Background Guide of your committee and familiarize yourself with the official Rules of Procedure provided in the Documents section of the website. A large part of your conference experience will depend on your preparations beforehand.
If there is anything we can do to assist your preparations for VMUN please feel free to contact any member of the Staff or Secretariat throughout the next few months. We will be pleased to answer any questions or concerns that you may have and we especially encourage delegates to contact their committee staff by email, which are available on the individual committee pages of our website.
